**DISCLAIMER: this study in no way advocating that people abstain from the use of condoms. Using condoms is the second most effective way to prevent the spread of HIV and other STDs (the first is Abstinence)***
When I read an article about a study that scientists at the State University of New York performed in 2002, I couldn't help but think WTF (no pun intended)??? According to the study lead by psychologist Gordon Gallup, women who's vaginas came into direct contact with semen were less depressed than those who used condoms regularly. Scientists accredit the anti-depressant quality of semen to several mood-altering hormones that are present within the fluid, and have even found these hormones to be present within the bloodstream of women who came into direct contact with semen hours after the exposure. The study also showed that women who never or seldom used condoms became more depressed as the length of time between sexual encounters stretched. The scientists have a theory that coming into contact with semen through oral sex may have the same affect, but further research must be done to completely prove their thoughts.
I found this article to be interesting because, in my mind, it sort of made sense of the countless number of women who continue to have unprotected sex resulting in multiple unwanted pregnancies. Maybe they do get an elated feeling after their vaginas come into contact with semen and just can't get enough of the high. But then again, this same article made me shake my head in disbelief that coming into contact with semen could actually make a woman less depressed. However, the facts of the study have been published and are in fact truthful! Boy Did I learn today! What are your thoughts? Speak out!
**GLAMEROTICA101.COM DOES NOT ADVOCATE THE NON USE OF CONDOMS. PROTECTED SEX IS THE SAFEST WAY FOR SEXUALLY ACTIVE INDIVIDUALS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF HIV AND OTHER STDs** Wrap it up! and remain happy knowing your health is secure.
