Many are familiar with the little bulb at the tip of the mons pubis known as the clitoris, but did you know that the round "button" you see protruding is just the head of the clitoris?
That's right...many don't know this fact, but the clitoris is mainly an internal organ that is made up of the head (the part that is exposed outside of the body) and two legs that extend into the pelvis and up the walls of the vagina. When erect, the legs of the clitoris actually wrap around the vagina as a woman becomes aroused. The legs of the clitoris are responsible for the sensitivity women feel in the walls of the vagina during sex.
An even more interesting fact: The head of the clitoris contains over 8000 nerve fibers...that is twice the number of nerve fibers located in the head of the penis. No wonder that little mound of flesh causes body shaking orgasms when stimulated!

This was very educational. I had no idea what was beyond the nub, and that it extended so far down. The labeling of the illustration is in Spanish. “Glande” speaks for itself, and I like your word, button. So cute and pleasurable! “Cuerpo” is a word most people would recognize, meaning body. “Raices” means roots, and it’s a great and fitting way to describe the least well-known parts of this important pleasure center. Thank you for offering this on your blog.
